BenchSci has created a proprietary database to account for, track, and link the different syntaxes and aliases of genes, proteins, RNA, and cell products
This saves you asking yourself, “Should this target name have a space, a comma, or maybe a dash?” and running separate searches for each variation.
BenchSci uses a preferred name for a gene and links it to all known aliases from our bioinformatics database. The preferred gene name is linked to related RNAi products and proteins on our platform, each of which has its own set of aliases. A single search gives results for the aliases associated with your search! We are constantly updating our collections of aliases based on the latest publications, vendor updates/mergers, and any other changes in the field. If you think we’re missing an alias, please let us know so we can add it to our database.
You can search for SOD1, SOD 1, Superoxide dismutase 1, Superoxide dismutase 1 [Cu-Zn], ALS1, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis 1, and HSOD1 and have confidence you’ll see the same results because BenchSci knows you’re referring to the same target.
