How and when was BenchSci founded?

It all started at the University of Toronto in 2015

In 2015, one of our founders, Dr. Thomas Leung was completing his Ph.D. project on cancer epigenetics. Tom was frustrated by the inefficient process of manually finding validated reagents from the literature. This often took him days, even for commonly used reagents such as antibodies.

Tom’s vision was to help scientists like himself from reading paper after paper just to find the reagents they need, so they can focus on designing and performing experiments for life-saving discoveries.

To realize his vision, Tom recruited co-founders David Chen (CTO), Liran Belenzon (CEO), and Elvis Wianda (CDO), and started BenchSci.
